Executive Summery
Sundar Nepal Sanstha is implementing Biodiversity conservation to reduce multiple threats to ecosystems and wildlife species for enhancing human well-being in four Palikas of Surkhet event supported by USAID /Biodiversity (Jal Jangal) project . The project focused on Karnali and Thuli Bheri watershed which includes Panchapuri municipality, Barahatal rural municipality, Birendranagar Municipality and Bheriganga Municipality of Surkhet district. It is based on the combination of validated methodologies Aquatic Animal Conservation, Conservation of wildlife in Buffor zone Community forest and Community Forest area for Jal Jangal has focused on Aquatic Animal Conservation activities through the program indictors in Karnali rivier basin of community based conservation including the practice of river stretch co-management.

Under this project Sundar Nepal Sanstha will register, revitalize, and/or strengthen and mobilize Community Aquatic Animal Conservation Groups (CAACG) and provide capacity building training programs and mass awareness for CAACGs and local communities in Panchapuri Municipality. Expected results include three new CAACG active and supported with 45 sets of field gear needed for patrolling; eight 1-day trainings for local communities on wildlife crime prevention and control; 15 1-day trainings for local communities on wildlife behavior and human wildlife conflict mitigation and management; six 1-day trainings for CAACG members on aquatic biodiversity conservation ; and, 15 hoarding boards installed with key messages on wildlife crime prevention and control, human behavior change for HWC mitigation , and aquatic biodiversity conservation. SNS previously served as a grantee of the USAID PAANI Program and brings relevant experience supporting the preparation of an Aquatic Biodiversity Conservation Bill (AACB), a working relationship with Panchapuri Municipality, and direct collaboration with the CAACGs established under the AACB. This prior experience will enable to SNS to begin immediate implementation of grant activities.
